David Li, chairman of Bank of East Asia and a former director of Dow Jones
＆Co. reached a tentative agreement with the U.S. SEC to fork over US$8
million to settle a nine-month-long insider trading investigation involving
Dow Jones. The securities regulator had collected circumstantial evidence
that could link Li with the unusual pattern of trading in Dow Jones stock
by Li’s family friends before News Corp. announced in May last year its
plan to take over the media company for US$5 billion.
